your chiropractor's concerns
|
If you ask most people “what is the primary concern of chiropractors?”, they will usually answer, “fixing bad backs” or “relieving back pain”.
This idea has become popular but is incomplete for the following reasons:
- Chiropractors do work primarily on the spinal column, however the impact beyond the spine is often profound. Many studies now suggest that the influence of a chiropractors work ripples out from the spinal column to the farthest reaches of the nerve system and therefore has implications for the well-being of body, mind and soul.
Because many people do not understand the intimate relationship, first between the spine and the nerve system, and secondly between the nerve system and all other systems in the body, they fail to realize the extent of the full body influence that both a poorly, and properly functioning nerve system can have.
- Your dentist will likely have made you aware that regular dental check ups are important and you may know that newborns should be checked at regular intervals by a health care provider.
However you may not have heard that you should have your spine checked at regular intervals by a registered chiropractor. A growing body of research suggests that you will benefit from regular spinal check-ups. In fact, while ever you labor against the force of gravity, and a number of other stresses that are inherent parts of being alive, you will stand the best chance of excelling when you’re free of spinal and nerve system interference.
- Your chiropractor focuses on the importance of spinal subluxation (a loss of normal spinal and nerve system function) as it relates to other body systems like the immune system.
Your chiropractor believes you are unlikely to return to, or sustain, your optimal well being with brief periods of concern for your health once it has abandoned you. The pursuit of health is best seen as an intimate and ongoing part of the journey that is your life.
