The Koren Specific Technique of
Chiropractic Care

The Koren Specific Technique (KST) is a fairly new and innovative chiropractic technique. It is very gentle, yet very effective. KST involves specific yet gentle adjustments to treat subluxations misalignment anywhere in the body.

It differs from the traditional chiropratic techniques in that it does not involve any sudden movements or noises in carrying out the adjustments.

This technique is also quick and easy, as it does not require the use of an adjusting table, since it is usually done with the patient either sitting or standing.

  The KST Procedure

The KST procedure is carried out in three steps.

1.  Challenging: This is the analyzing stage where the entire body structure is analyzed.

2.  Checking: To determine which body structures are aligned and which need to be adjusted.

3.  Correcting: Those areas that need adjusting are corrected using an adjusting instrument called the Arthrostim™.

 The ArthroStim™

The ArthroStim™ is an FDA approved instrument that gives a low force, fast, but accurate adjustment. The ArthroStim™ adjusts only the structure that is out of alignment, making it ideal for making adjustments with the body in a variety of postures.

KST is considered to be one of the most gentle chiropractic techniques and as such is ideally suited for treating small children and elderly patients.

How Should A Patient Feel?

Most people report a feeling of ease, relaxation and well-being as their structural nerve stress (subluxations) releases/diminishes. Some people feel very relaxed and they should listen to their body and go home and sleep if at all possible.

The next day some people feel as if they’ve had a good workout, often in places they never knew they had. This is usually felt only after the first adjustment, is temporary and usually disappears within a short time.

Retracing

People have many layers. After the correction of what the body is showing at the time, older injuries, older distortions, older subluxations and older symptoms (both physical and emotional) may surface to release. The release and healing of old injuries is known as "retracing" and is usually part of the healing process.

On occasion patients have reported "cleansing" symptoms such as diarrhea, pus, mucus, headache, fever, etc. as toxins leave the body. These symptoms are usually temporary. It is helpful to be told if unusual symptoms arise. These symptoms may take the form of emotional releases: old memories coming up or unusual dreams.

Sometimes an area is so weak and the distortion so extensive that a segment put in place may not stay in position and may need correcting again.
